Resources is a sort of virtual directory. In this case it
mirrors the Apps directory in the root of the boot
drive. Anything in that directory is also run at boot
time. Check there too.
Nothing there to do with NetSurf. It was one of the first
places I looked.
Most likely Netsurf is in "Network" folder (or Internet). It is probably
being added to Apps in one of two methods:
1) Double click (normal) on !Boot, then click the "Boot" option.
There's an "Add to Apps" section with a list of items. You can
drag items in, or remove them. It is likely that the NetSurf in
"Network" is in this list
2) A saved desktop boot file somewhere in the boot sequence.
This will require a little searching. Start by shift-double
clicking on !Boot, then go to Choices, then Boot.
First look in Tasks. Is there a file called !Boot or similar?
It'll have the "desktop" file icon. Drag it to !Edit (or other
text editor) and use Find (F4) to search for NetSurf. If you
find any lines that refer to AddApp then remove them.
(Honestly, in OS5, you shouldn't have a !Boot or similar file in
Tasks - but a lot of people carry them over)
Next, go up a folder and look at the file called Desktop.
Again, drag to !Edit etc. Again, search for NetSurf, and remove
any AddApp lines.
Finally, Check PreDesktop file (not to be confused with PreDesk
folder). Again, drag to !Edit, again search... etc.
Save any changes you have made and reboot.
Fingers crossed this will sort your problem.
Best wishes,
Andrew
PS, route cause is probably down to how !boot files for browsers claim
actions. It is "polite" for a !Boot file to only set/claim URL opening in
its !Boot file if no other browser has already claimed it. Otherwise, a
browser could overwrite your currently-in-use setup just by opening a
filer window - very rude!
Both NetSurf and Iris are well behaved, and only claim variables when seen
if not already set. Running the programs will usually claim them because
that is seen as an active action - "you've run me, so you want me"
attitude.
I will look at revisiting this to see if an override can be added in
future.
