I believe that Hermes can also get your domain details from Messenger's
configuration (and the values *it* sets), so it shouldn't be a problem.
Otherwise, you might be able to just *set inet$localdomain as needed. I
suspect (although don't have definitive proof) that it uses that for
building your host/domain combo.
Thanks Andrew, I'll have a play with setting inet$localdomain manually and
see if that fixes the issue.
Note that there is another possibility - some mail servers now insist on
SPF checking which involves checking that the email address in the
email matches the SMTP server being used to send it. As such, you
might want to look at using smtp.mightyoak.org.uk if such a server
exists (based on your email address).
There is indeed a server of a very similar name mail.mightyoak.org.uk and
I do use that for most emails.
Indeed, I would strongly advise anyone to avoid using MS Office 365
servers, for many reasons.
I would completely agree with you except there is another problem.
If I send an email from home to a colleague at work I wish the colleague
to get an email from my work address not my home address. This is a 365
account (not my choice). If I send that via any non 365 smtp server, the
email gets marked as a spoofing email. That means that it ends up in the
junk folder at the recipient.
This message is added to the email.

Yes, I know it's terrible but I can't change things so I have to send such
emails via the 365 smtp server.
