Hey guys, this is Rich Brown....for the first time testing out the group email
list, seeing if it works. I'd appreciate it if everyone would send a reply that
if nothing else, says you received this. The idea is that this way, we can have
an open conversation, where all 8 or 10 of us can see what the others are
saying.
Let me say this is not spam. I'm honestly sitting at my table at 11 am on
Monday morning sending this out.
A bit about me. I'm a 52 year old man who has been a Christian since my early
teens. I graduated from Gateway College of Evangelism in 1991 with a B.A. in
Christian education. I grew up with two alcoholic parents, with abuse being the
norm. After becoming a Christian, I got involved in jail / prison ministry. So
those two things--my parents and the ministry to inmates--led to my burden for
people with addiction. I believe this is my calling from God.
I've worked at Celebrate Freedom on the northeast side of Indy (lawrence area)
since 2010. I'm a member of The Caring Place, an Assembly of God church at 30th
and Post.
Covid 19 hit our facility hard, with people not wanting to live in group
settings with the pandemic going. But I consider this a will-of-God thing,
beccause this opens up things for me to start this Addiction Recovery Missions
project (I continue at the recover house, too ARM will be
mission-based...Because thousands of families in Indiana and the midwest have
members who need help with their addiction...but they're still in the denial
phase. The vision is that I will take Bible study materials into these homes,
pertaining to deliverance...and work one-on-one with the addict. It's a
faith-based alternative to the classic intervention style. I plan to have one
other person who joins me in these home missions trips, so maybe I'll have him
send an email soon (His name is David). But neither of us can do this if we
can't get financial support. That's because we're giving up opportunities to
make money at regular jobs, as well as the fact that there will be costs
associated with printed materials, gas costs, drug testing supplies, etc.
Fortunately, we are a nonprofit 501(c)3, which means all donations are tax
deductible. If you speak to anyone about being a partner with us, we will
provide for them our IRS tax number, verifying our nonprofit status.
This is all new to me, so forgive me if I'm rambling. I don't know really how
to begin. I just know that what I need are Partners in Missions (We'll call
them RECOVERY HEROES). We'd like to get people who will pledge a regular
amount per week and per month. And as you find these partners, you'll earn a
consistent commission for yourself (In secular business terms, it would be
called "passive income" because if you get someone donating every week, then
you only need to get that donation once and your commission would be coming in
every week without further work).
So thoughts: How much should we ask for donors per week, per month? Who to
approach? How to approach? And what do you need from me to help you with this
project?
