Dear Pike Brothers,
It was a blessed day for Sweeney and me, and the rest of our family as our Mom
had her 100th Birthday last Tuesday!
Unfortunately in these days of COVID, we couldn’t celebrate with Dorothy in
person, so had to have a Zoom call with about 30 family members, which lasted
for almost two fun-filled hours! (Scored her some headphones B4 the CC which
assisted her hearing.)
Our Mom is amazing, but she knows how blessed and fortunate she is to have
reached this milestone. She still plays backgammon and several card games very
competitively, reads books constantly on her iPad, watches The Wheel and
Jeopardy, and still isn’t on any prescriptions/medications. All this after
surviving leukemia after numerous rounds of chemotherapy at age 80!
Fortunately, our Mom isn’t in assisted living yet, thanks to two of our amazing
siblings that are retired and living in the Bay Area that give of themselves
tirelessly in assisting Dorothy each day...especially keeping her safe from
COVID.
Given that prostate cancer got our Dad at 76, I guess things have a way of
evening out!
Cheers to Dorothy!
Thanks,
ALF & Sweeney
