[argyllcms] dispcal: Error - new_disprd() failed with 'Instrument Access Failed' with Spyder 1

I am receiving the following error
dispcal: Error - new_disprd() failed with 'Instrument Access Failed'
More details of the error are given bellow
The computer is running OpenSuSE 11.3, kernel 2.6.34.7, and the device is
listed in the lsusb command

Bus 007 Device 002: ID 085c:0100 ColorVision, Inc.
I have change the permission on this devices so all can read and write and
even run the dispcal program as root users.
The device is a Pantone Colorvision Spyder 1, that I inherited because the
owner, who bought it second hand without software, could not get the device to
work.
With the -D5 option I receive the following output:
