Thank you for the reply.
There is a report that the xiccd utility (that colord depends on in
some way that is not clear to me) has a bug, causing profile
installation via colord to fail.
Alexey Galakhov reports that xiccd 0.2.3 fixes this issue, so it would
be worth you seeing if this fixes your problem.
So I didn't actually have xiccd installed at all in the first place, but
I tried installing xiccd 0.2.3. My understanding is that it does
something similar to colord-kde, so I removed that too, then restarted.
(Sorry, probably should have mentioned my DE.)
I then tried to run the dispwin command again. It failed in a slightly
different way.
$ dispwin -I ~/HDD/Computer/Monitor\ profiles/Dell_2412M.icc
Failed to find device that matches 48ead1f8564c7bceb6c19c7f76efcd28:
property match 'OutputEdidMd5'='48ead1f8564c7bceb6c19c7f76efcd28' does not
existDispwin: Error - Failed to install profile
'/home/user/HDD/Computer/Monitor profiles/Dell_2412M.icc'!
I wasn't sure if I needed to manually run xiccd, so I tried that, which
resulted in the following output repeated several times.
(xiccd:1752): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion
'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
While this was running, I tried dispwin again.
$ dispwin -I ~/HDD/Computer/Monitor\ profiles/Dell_2412M.icc
Could not import profile /home/user/HDD/Computer/Monitor
profiles/Dell_2412M.icc: The profile was not added in timeDispwin: Error -
Failed to install profile '/home/user/HDD/Computer/Monitor
profiles/Dell_2412M.icc'!
My understanding of what is going on is very limited, but I'm happy to
troubleshoot more.
Thanks again. Cheers.
