I am a computer vision researcher (at Technical University of Munich) and I
am interested to re-use Argyll CMS in my university's computer vision
platform (Ubitrack). I want to perform color calibration on the incoming
video streams from a variety of different digital video cameras, so that we
can normalize all color images in our system. We want to determine if color
calibration would improve the performance of some of our algorithms. Our
computer vision platform is public and open-source.
My approach was to generate a .cal file for each video camera and transform
the images as they arrive. (I'd re-use the code from cctiff to tranform
in-memory images.) I generated a test chart with targen/printtarg, then
printed it (university printing is already quite accurate and calibrated),
and photographed it. The problem is, that scanin requires a .cie file,
which I don't have. Other options for scanin would require .mpp or .icc
files, which I don't have either. How can I generate the .cal files, in my
situation?
