Graeme,
Just wanted to offer up a quick bit of thanks. It's been a while since I've
done anything that required a decent monitor profile, so I've just let the
X-Rite dummy-mode profiles sit and rot. Wasn't happy with them when I created
them, but they didn't completely suck...and I had bigger fish to fry.
I just created a pair of profiles, one each, 4000-patch XYZ LUT profiles, for
the iMac's built-in display and the Wacom Cintiq next to it. Measured with an
i1 Display Pro with a freshly-made ccmx with an i1 Pro 2, and version
1.7.1_beta1.
I've _never_ gotten a decent profile of the Cintiq...until now.
colprof reported average DEs for each of 0.25, maximum 1.3 and 1.0 for the iMac
and Cintiq respectively...and it shows. Opened the same file full screen on
both displays in Photoshop, and I'll be damned if I can visually tell which is
which. Even more impressive...that includes a nearly-perfectly-smooth Grainger
rainbow! If there's room for even theoretical improvement in the profiles, I've
no clue what it might be.
As it is said, my gast is truly flabbered.
Thank you!
