Hello everyone,

I've been using Argyll for a while to profile my monitor and papers. I wanted to profile inkjet-printable CDs/DVDs. I did a first attempt, using about 150 patches. I took the tiff files generated by printarg, and then copy/pasted the patches as a "round shape" in GIMP. This was then printed out and read with a colormunki in spot reading mode. It worked, but I had the feeling that many more patches would be needed. There were a few color shifts like blue turning to purple, etc.

I recall an old thread on the mailing list archives where someone has had success using about 190 "customized" patches. Has anyone ever done this and be willing to share their .TI1/.TI2/TIFF files with me? Or possibly guide me a bit in creating my own patch set?

I am using Turboprint on Linux, and have one of their proprietary profiles for printable discs. The reason i'm interested in making my own is to use a different inkset than the one I have now. I was thinking maybe I could use some targets i've seen on the web for CD/DVD and print them with my Turboprint profile, and then in some way measure the results with my munki (spotread). Maybe the data could be used to create .TI1/.TI2 files that I could then use on different discs/printer/inkset. I just have no idea on how to start making my own custom files.

thanks!

Charles
