yes, no surprise there, I would expect that to be a workaround.
But it's a hack. In the past it's been necessary for certain models
of instrument with certain OS drivers (mainly Linux). It's not
something that typically happens with MSWindows, and doesn't happen
with my SpyderX on the WinXP and Win10 systems I've tested on
(or any of the OS's and hardware I've tested on). Other people
have been using the driver without reporting the problem. So
it's a bit of a puzzle.
The downside to "reset on close" is that it noticeably delays
the subsequent device open, something that (for instance) DisplayCAL
does when it's stringing Argyll tool uses together.
