Hi, there are a number of perceptual space algorithms available. They all rely on the profile being provided. My inclination would be to provide an accurate printer profile, use the default Optimised Farthest Point Sampling but since you aren't interested in profiling the printer itself, set adapation to 0 (-A) so that it generates perceptually even points.
