Kernel land is off-limits to applications. You can do all kinds of funny
stuff by unloading the kernel-provided module and replacing it with
something else. I don't think your expectations are realistic,
applications have no business reconfiguring kernel modules.

This is BTW why manufacturers use the HID class now – even Microsoft is
making its kernel off-limits to casual coders.
