Not sure if this is helpful, but I have found that my i1 Pro is finicky about 
the quality of the USB cable.  Had to toss two cables before I found one that 
worked properly.

I am guessing this might be a known issue because when I originally spoke to my 
supplier about the problem, the first thing they said was "try a different usb 
cable".
