Hello,

My cheap CRT is dead. I used ArgyllCMS and the Spyder 2 to calibrate and profile it. Patch readings were slow but calibration and profiling were easy and I was happy with the results.

Now I own a LCD monitor and it's not easy to get good result.
I reset the monitor to the factory defaults and only decrease brightness to a reasonable setting for my eyes. Then I go to the color menu to look at the R,G,B channels (gain). They are all set the same value. Offset is 0 for R,G, and B. With dispcal I only decreased the green channel (gain) to get closer to the white point.

Black is not black. What am I doing wrong ?

Sorry my english is bad.
Thank you.

Argyll Version: 1.1.1-1 in Debian squeeze

dispcal -v2 -yl -R -H -N

patch 3 of 3
Measuring VideoLUT table entry precision.
patch 6 of 6
patch 6 of 6
patch 9 of 9
patch 9 of 9
Uncalibrated response:
Black level = 0.18 cd/m^2
White level = 133.39 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.43
Contrast ratio = 742:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3147, 0.3444
White Correlated Color Temperature = 6303K, DE 2K to locus = 11.7
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 6298K, DE 2K to locus = 8.7
White Visual Color Temperature = 5895K, DE 2K to locus = 11.4
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 6019K, DE 2K to locus = 8.4
Effective LUT entry depth seems to be 10 bits

dispcal -v2 -qh -yl -gs -N -H

argyll-targen -v -d3 -f1500 -G ----> argyll-targen: is that debian specific ? (will try to ask Roland Mas at Debian)

dispread -v -yl -k file.cal -N -H

colprof -v -q m -t p -T p -d mt -P ----> I have read about the error with t and T option.

profile check complete, peak err = 5.628695, avg err = 0.726152, RMS = 1.001504

dispcal -v3 -yl -r

patch 3 of 3
