Hi Roger,
I'm curious why you consider a Granger Rainbow a "torture" test image? It has
*no* inherent profile, so it *only* becomes torturous if one assigns a profile
to it that is much larger than the output profile. And even then it's only
showing the shortcomings of that particular workflow. So, for example, if you
assigned "ProPhoto" to the a Granger Rainbow and then tried to reproduce it on
a CMYK output device there would definitively problems - as expected. But
conversely if you assigned the rainbow your monitor profile and displayed that
on your monitor you'd be seeing a pure Granger with no anomalies, other than
those in the monitor profile. Again, to repeat, a proper Granger Rainbow has
*no* embedded profile, and only becomes useful when the user assigns a profile
to it and evaluates the output.
