That, actually, could be the case. It could also be the case that the profile you're comparing it with isn't an actual representation of the gamut the printer is capable of reproducing. I've found that to be the case with more than one manufacturer-supplied profile. And it could be a little of both. If you want good quality inexpensive paper, give Red River a try. They're not the best mill out there, but they're definitely acceptable...and most everything cheaper is hit-or-miss at best. If budget isn't as much of a concern, it's hard to beat Crane Museo, Moab, Canson, and Hahnemuhle -- the latter especially if you like stuff with fluorescent optical brighteners (which I generally don't, but I have to give Hahnemuhle credit for doing the medium justice). b&
