I'm opening terminal from the folder containing all the files.
I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Argyll:
peter@peter-desktop:~$ apt-cache policy argyll

Is this as expected or am I missing something?
As far as I can remember I installed Argyll when installing DisplayCAL if that
matters?

Is the error due to some other stuff?
Again, looks like 'scanin' is not finding the 'it8.cht' file. Probably
there's some issue with your installation of Argyll or you are running it
from the wrong place. You didn't give any details about your platform,
versions used, etc.
Where are your Argyll files located? Did you try to specify the whole path to
'it8.cht' on the 'scanin' command line?
