Hi all.

I am using a ColorMunki and an Epson 7900 with Epson drivers.

The paper
that I am profiling is the Hahnemuhle FineArt Baryta.

I made a RGB printer profile using this procedure:

targen -v -d2 -G -f2232 -g128 name
printtarg -v -ii1  -t360 -p310x450 name
chartread -v -H -B -T0.4 name
colprof -v -qu -i D50 -o 1931_2 -S AdobeRGB1998.icc -cmt -dpp name

I tried the profile with a test print and it seems good, I am happy with it.

The profile
shape in ColorThink Pro seems to be nice and smooth, it is similar to the shape
of the canned profile, the gamut is a little bit wider and I get more on the
yellows and less on the blues.

I used:

profcheck -v2 -k -i D50 -o 1931_2 -w name.ti3 name.icm > filelog.log

And I got this: Profile check complete, errors(CIEDE2000): max. = 12.537874,
avg. = 0.258521, RMS = 0.469126

Opening the file with Excel I could "order by name" and I found the wrost
patches which are:

[12.537874] 934: 0.156860 0.235290 0.623530 -> 25.215786 13.311269 -22.933310
should be 28.517760 28.271383 -13.739801
[6.588497] 1978: 0.556860 0.466670 0.647060 -> 54.596846 5.437482 -4.979024
should be 55.719504 1.149786 -7.950194
[5.779971] 895: 0.356860 0.145100 0.274510 -> 25.664547 14.487238 8.719784
should be 29.399592 10.723288 12.670681

Then I have 2 more patches that are above DeltaE2000 of 2 and all the other are
above 2 (17 patches between 1 and 2 and all the other are above 1).

My question are:

1) When coloprof "see" a patches with an high DeltaE2000 will the patch be
ignorerd? What is the effect of this kind of "reading error" in the final
profile?

2) Is it possible to manual edit the .ti3 file before I give it as input in
colprof, to change the values of the patches that I don't like with new
readings? Is this an "intelligent" thing to do or not? I am sorry but I am
trying to learn and I could find no clear explanation on this. What I would
like to do is to read again, for example, patch number 934 in spot mode and put
it in the .ti3 file.

I found in the .ti2 file this:
934 "BB21" 15.686 23.529 62.353 9.6306 7.0682 34.265
So the 21th patch on the BB strip should be what I am searching for.

Now I don’t know how to read again this patch (I can use the ColorMunki
program, but I have L*a*b* values as output) and how to “put” the new values in
the .ti3 file.

I am asking this because I have more than one profile that has 2/3 patches with
DeltaE grater that 3 and I think it could be nice to “local edit” the file that
is being used to make the profile.

I hope that I didn’t say too much stupid things. Please forgive me J.
All inputs will be welcome :).
