I fail to see what “calibration” would afford anyone in terms of “extra
accuracy”:
Epson’s own software that came with the SpectroProofer had a pre-profiling,
linearisation charts — it was the only time you’d ever see the pure ink
pigments on paper.
And that’s the way that all commercial proofing systems work isn’t it?
We don’t build new profiles whenever the readings drift — we re-linearise the
printer so that the existing profiles produce consistently accurate results.
GMG’s ColorProof even insists on running an O+G *pre*-linearisation chart
before recalibrating 10 colour proofing queues.
And paper feed adjustments are absolutely critical when it comes to getting
accurate contract proofs.
So I reckon you should do a paper feed adjustment and linearisation for extra
accuracy ;-)
