Thanks for answering.  I tested the same strip from a windows pc. I
measured the same black patch to 6.83 with the standard windows driver
and 3.42 with the advanced b&w driver. All patches were printed on
Epson Premium Luster paper. That's the reason that I expected a lower
value. The values may be wrong, but if so, I think that the windows
and gutenprint measurements have the same error.
