If you are going to use your profile to print B/W images it is indeed useful
to include extra gray patches. I have found that 51 is a useful number to

command is '-g51'

Subject: [argyllcms] Gray patch in targen

Goodmorning everyone,

I wanted to ask if in the string "targen", using the -g command, it can be
helpful to have a high number of gray patches, such as 256.
To obtain this patch number, which value I must add to -g?

Thank you.

Carlo

Good evening everyone,

thanks for the reply Alan, exact, my intent is to get an ICC profile optimized for printing in B&W. I had indicated 256 because I had read in a forum that is a number of patch that allows to obtain a very good profile for a B&W print: "... all possible levels of gray of a print in 8 bit per channel..."
If according to your experience, 51 patches are enough, I trust.

Thanks again.
