Hi,
I should probably stick with xicclu to do the conversion from CIE Lab to CMYK
but I
want to "finish" first with doing it with Photoshop, otherwise, I'll lose the
ability
to compare results.
sure - but it's no good trying to check the behavior of a profile if you
mix it with the behavior of Photoshop (i.e. BPC) !
But you are 100% right, I think? The "poor" dark neutral behavior probably
comes from
applying Black Point Compensation.
BPC is a kind of gamut mapping along just the luminance axis. There's a paper
from
Adobe that describes how they say it works.
P.S. Is there a way to have xicclu process the contents of a text file?
Instead of one
value at a time?
Yes - create a file with one set of values per line and feed it into
xicclu via stdin. i.e.
xicclu -ff -ir < values.txt > results.txt
Cheers,
Graeme.
