I have an Epson XP-400 printer, here, and ICM can be turned OFF in the driver
"Advanced" tab. Of course, you are right, no point going any further with any
experiment until color management is turned off in the driver.

I just downloaded the printer manual and it's not clear to me from the
documentation that one can print without some type of color management with
this printer. The section on the print driver seems to be silent on this. If
you cannot turn off color management then you cannot print out patches to
create a profile. You also would be unable to use a profile. Perhaps the
manual is silent on this and there is a control in the driver to do so but not
having the printer, I cannot say for sure.

Just curious, before you attempted anything using Windows color management,
have you tried any of this using, say, Photoshop, as a test bench? Unless you
don't have access to Photoshop ☹

I am having trouble with windows color management. I am trying to calibrate my
printer using Argyll CMS and the end result is slightly off...

To summarize, I am using `cctiff` to apply srgb->custom printer profile
conversion.
* If I print the resulting image WITHOUT color management then the image is as
I expect it to be.
* If I upload the custom printer profile to windows color management and select
it as default. Then print pre-converted original, letting ICM do the task
itself, then the printout is different.
The weird thing is that I enabled print preview in Epson driver and the preview
image is exactly same as the `cctiff` converted image. But when it is printed
it looks different.
I think print-preview of Epson shows the final data to be sent to printer so I
do not quite understand why the end result is different when I let windows
manage ICM.
Any ideas?
