I believe Argyll has a routine to calculate the difference between the
expected colorimetric result and the actual result. If the difference is
small, on average, then the profile is doing a good job. If the difference
is large, then, you know what that means. Personally, knowing that profiles
are at the mercy of instruments, I always compare with a display of the
ColorChecker chart, illuminated by my choice of "D50" lighting. If I find
the visual difference acceptable then I can trust the profile. Do you have
access to a ColorChecker chart yourself?
