Not quite right. Yes calibration curves are typically stored in the
vcgt tag (but changes to the display controls are also calibration,
and their settings are not stored anywhere other than the display itself!),
but the profile consists of (matrix:) rTRC/gTRC/bTRC + matrix
or (cLUT:) per-channel-curves + lookup table + per-channel-curves,
and in a color managed workflow (something like) the inverse of the profile
is applied to the color to be displayed _before_ the calibration (vcgt) curves.
Since the vcgt curves are loaded into the hardware (graphics card), they
are the last thing that changes the device values on the way out.
