sounds like a workflow problem. i.e. you aren't actually printing the test chart
with no color management, and/or the way the CMM is doing the color
management doesn't match up with the with/without color management behavior.
A sanity check is to do the color management using ArgyllCMS tools, and
then print the result using the same settings that you used to print
the test chart.
i.e. say you have a test image testimage.tif in sRGB space, and your printer
profile is printer.icm, then you would do:
cctiff sRGB.icm -ip printer.icm testimage.tif verifyimage.tif
and then print verifyimage.tif in exactly the same way you printed your
test chart.
This won't solve your problem, but it will confirm that it is a workflow
problem.
