i know this isn't what you want to hear, but I would just print a larger
set of patches and do spot measurements with the i1.
or maybe what you want is simply this:

Hi there!

I've got an i1 Pro Rev. B, which got re-certificated two months ago.
My problem: I don't have a ruler and all the "hacks" with DIY aren't
working pretty good.

On eBay, you can find pretty cheap DTP41... are they useful for printer
profiling?
Sure, they need re-recertification, but that's easier to get than a
measurement ruler ;)
