If it's XML, then there is no possibility of spec2cie working on it.

Alexey - Many thanks for taking the time to do this. It does give me a 
file that works with spec2cie and that I can experiment with. Most
helpful.

CXF v.1 is superseded and exceedingly complex, so it's disappointing to know
that reference files are being distributed solely in such a format. X-Rite
have moved on to CXF V.2, which is a little more sane, but still much more
complex than CGATS, while not adding a whole lot of practical value.
