I am trying to control the amount of ink being put down when using the
standard Epson driver for the 6 color Artisan 1430 printer. I am attempting
to do this using Argyll with a RGB profile and calibration method.
I need this for printing on a coated technical paper and the standard
settings put down much more ink than the paper can hold.
My current steps are:
targen -v -d2 -s336 -e3 -f0 Epson-cal-test
-v verbose
-d2 PrintRGB
-s336 Single Channel Steps - 336 (default 0)
-e3 White Color Patches 3 (default 4)
-f0 Full spread patch count 0 (default 836)
printtarg -v -R 0 -P -T175 -ii1 -p355x375 Epson-cal-test
-v Verbose
-R0 use given random start number
-P Don't limit Strip length
-T175 16bit TIFF at given res
-ii1 target instrument
-pWWWxHHH custom mm pagesize
I print the test chart with no color management
chartread Epson-cal-test
printcal -v -i Epson-cal-test
-v verbose
-p Plot Graphs (You will need to select the plot window and hit a key to
advance past each plot).
-i Initial Calibration - creates new .cal
Next I create a regular profile:
targen -v -d2 -G -e4 -g128 -f805-t ScalepatchesOnePage
d2 - PrintRGB
G - optimzed points
e4 - white color patches (default is 4)
-g128 - Gray steps (default 0)
-f870 full spread patches to total(default 836)
-t incremental far point for full spread
- Generates (filename).ti1 - profiling test target values
printtarg -v -ii1 -b -T175 -P -p355x335 -KEpson-cal-test.cal
ScalepatchesOnePage
ii1 - i1 device
a0.82 - scale patch value
b - force B&W spacers
T360 - 16bit TIFF @360DPI (default 200)
m3 - margin 3mm (default 6)
M3 - margin 3mm and include in TIFF
P - Dont' limit Strip length
p - WWWxHHH
- Generates - (filename).cht (filename).ti2 (filename).tif
- Generates two TIFF Files but I merged them into one Page and it works
perfectly
chartread ScalepatchesOnePage
- Generates (filename).ti3
colprof -v -D"Epson-Jetcol-cus02" -qh -cmt -dpp
ScalepatchesOnePage >Epson-Jetcol-cus02-colprof.log
- Generates (filename).icm
Then I run a print test:
cctiff AdobeRGB1998.icc ScalepatchesOnePage.icm Epson-cal-test.cal
PrinterEvaluationImage_V002_ProPhoto.tif
PrinterEvaluationImage_V002_ProPhoto-cal-profile.tif
It has a significant Blue tint - and the ink is still way too high.
Any suggestions?
