Something about color nerds is their eternal fidgeting over ordinary
language. The word gamut drives them crazy and the more informed they are
the crazier it drives them :) Lol So much so that Graeme won't even refer
you to his own tools
A handy tool is DisplayCal's UI (for Argyll, omg) called "ICC Profile
Info". The program comes with DisplayCal, which you can freely download
from displaycal.net. It gives you the profile gamut under consideration
projected onto a choice of various colorspaces including CIE1931. I
personally think the DIN99c projection is a nice one because it's a more
proportional representation of the device against the standard observer.
You can compare device projections and other helpful profile details.
In ICC Profile Info, pick device a profile by dragging it onto the app
window, then on the upper-left, use the pull-down menu to choose "Gamut"
(which for some arcane reason is actually used on the tool UI), then at the
bottom choose "Colorspace" blah blah and have fun.
If you are using macOS, Colorsync Utility can do similar stuff and gives
you a list of installed profiles.
And remember, "seeing is believing", unless you can't see!
