XSane has a number of issues related to how it gets and uses profiles and in
many cases the error message are not accurate (IE. the message will have
information about a profile that is not the cause of the issue for example)
and this makes fixing the issue difficult or impossible. The best thing to do
is to let the author know that you are having problems so that he can fix
things. I have contacted him about some of these problems and he has fixed
these in newer releases. But I suspect that the CM code in XSane has not been
widely tested and that there are other bugs waiting to be discovered and
reported. So it is important for you to report the issue because the author
can't fix it if he does not know it is broken.
