[argyllcms] Can't change number of patches on chart

Hi folks,
I'm a newbie to Argyll so please bear with me, and have been playing with it on
Intel mac OSX 10.6.4 and also G4 10.4.11 Argyll v1.1.1 and am able to generate
profiling charts CMYK but cannot change the number of patches to more than 836.
Have tried the following command with various numbers. Would like a large
number of patches for uneven inkjets.
targen -v -d4 -l320 -f3000 PrinterB
Also can only get it to produce charts with "random" patches. Have tried "-r"
but no luck. Would like to see all Cyans, etc. in a row, especially in
Calibration chart.
Know I must be missing something here!
