if you want to address it, you have to go the multi-spectral imaging route that they’re so good at at RIT. With a couple / few carefully-selected gel filters and some creative math, you can go from the camera’s three wide spectral bands to several narrow spectral bands.

That would be certainly interesting from an engineering point of view (and that would be enough for at least attempting it), but unfortunately my knowledge in such matters is too limited to purse something similar in a reasonable time lapse.
