A number of people have reported problems similar to yours, and
it seems to be related to the default Linux distro (Raspbian ?)
USB driver. This evidently have a USB driver bug that shows up with the i1.
You could try and get them to fix it by providing them a bug report and
USB traces, or you could switch to a different Distro (Debian ? - not sure off
hand.)
