I was thinking you could modify the RAMDAC directly to adjust the colors
being displayed,
instead of adjusting the values of the test patches and using a linear RAMDAC.
So if I understand correctly, OpenGL applications are able to punch through
the 8-bit
compositor and display 30-bit colors, but everything else running in windowed
mode is
limited by the compositor? I know madVR supports 10-bit colors in fullscreen
exclusive
mode using Direct3D 11, but that bypasses the compositor as well.
