Hi,

following the recommendation to start in colprof with shaper+matrix, I
would
like to know, what this means mathematically. I think I understand how
3DLUTs and matrices work. But what does "shaper" mean? Is there a
reference
to learn more about this?

more technical detail is in the ICC specifications:

"shaper" means a set of per channel 1D lookup tables that shape
each channel. Typically these will be of high resolution compared
to cLuts (i.e. 256 or 1024 entries etc.)

Cheers,
        Graeme Gill.
