Hello Roger,
thank you very much for confirming my understanding of how Argyll works :-).
Unfortunately I already found out that none of the software I use (PhotoShop
Elements, SilverFast HDR, RawTherapee) does understand such a device link
profile, at least the one I created with the simple command "collink -s -i p
-o p scanner_profile Adobe_RGB link_profile".
If you plan to convert in Argyll, it's a different story...

(DLP) from ScannerRGB to either sRGB or AdobeRGB.
I suspect you won't have much choice BUT to use RelCol as the Rendering
Intent (will make your life easier).
The only thing is, where will you be using the DLP, in Photoshop?
Be aware the kind of DLP conversion being supported in Photoshop before you
go ahead and create the profile.
If you plan to convert in Argyll, it's a different story...
MfG / Roger

Subject: [argyllcms] Question about the principle use of Argyll
Hello,
having read the documentation and thought about the use of Argyll I would
like to ask a question about the principle application.
I have a scanner, which I profile with Argyll, an EIZO monitor, which can be
set to display Adobe 1998 RGB or sRGB colour space (or profiled with my
Spyder to e.g. Adobe 1998 RGB). I want to render my scanned images in either
Adobe 1998 RGB or sRGB colour space, for display on the monitor or to send
them to a photolab for prints.
Is it in principle correct to create a linked profile with collink from the
scanner profile (created with scanin + colprof) as input profile and Adobe
1998 RGB profile or sRGB profile as output profile with the rendering intent
of my choice? Or have I misunderstood something completely?
Best wishes
Hermann-Josef
