Hi Sarah,
We can rattle through it in 5 minutes. It’s just to give everyone an idea of
what we’ve done, and how we’ve done it.
Speak next week.
Best,
Geoff

Hi Geoff,
We have a pretty full agenda but that sounds very interesting so let's try to
make space! About how long will you need?
Everyone- one of our items on the agenda is the Archivematica Core
Definition. We do have some progress to share with you- you should be able to
view and comment on this document:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Pn5cpK73nSK-xelUm5O9YGmkycKgqZB69Y9Bt7DgkvM/edit?ts=5f064d18#
There are still some gaps to flesh out but what we are most interested in
your feedback on is a section called "Guiding Statements." These are plain
English explanations of the core of what Archivematica does, and why.` You
don't have to do this before the meeting if you do not have time but one way
that we'd like to gather feedback is by you all giving them between 1 and 3
"stars"- 1 for a statement that is of limited or no importance to you, 3 for
one that is of high importance to you. I have created a spreadsheet to
capture that here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZqHVPuTCpof2E8zEZwzGgxuEOczhS0n1lZiSz1idAqg/edit#gid=0
Again, not required for us to have a meaningful discussion before the meeting
but wanted to circulate to you now in case some of you have interest and time.
Do let me know if you have any questions/comments in advance of next week's
meeting. Looking forward to speaking with you all.
Cheers,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I hope you have been keeping well.
Would you like us to give a brief demonstration of our query builder utility?

Hello all,
I hope you have been well. As Sara mentioned, I have a document prepared
for the use cases for reporting discussion, which you can find here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MZbdgUGUp8y35JkgJ39o5l8U618YcoayuLToRvGvELI/edit#
. I divided the document into use cases related to archival storage
(repository reporting), processing reporting, and "other" in case there are
other ideas that do not fit neatly into that category. I provided a couple
of examples to get us started. Please feel free to add more stories, or if
there are your own documents that you prefer to link that is fine too (I
know that Picturae for example has already put effort into describing
reporting requirements in other places- I don't want to make you repeat
that work!). I personally find the user story format useful- "as a [type of
role] I want to [complete some task] in order to [achieve some goal]" but
please feel free to fill out however it makes sense to yourself.
As Sara mentioned we've been making progress here at Artefactual, supported
by Wellcome, on METS verbosity reduction. We're keen to get other opinions
and feedback and we could be ready to have that conversation soon- drop me
a line if you are interested and I'll set up a meeting separate from our
July PSP, which already has a very full agenda!
Finally, a heads-up: we will be making a public announcement soon, but we
are working towards the next major Archivematica release (AM 1.12/ SS 0.17)
with a release at the end of August. We'll be making a call for any
community pull requests to be submitted by July 24th, so that we have time
internally to review and merge. Just wanted to make you all aware in case
there is something you've been working on (folks from Wellcome, we have a
couple of open PRs from you already that didn't make it into 1.11 so we'll
touch base with you about those).
Looking forward to speaking to you all next month!
Cheers,
Sarah

Hi all,
Our next meeting is on July 15th at 3pm UTC (4pm UK, 5pm Amsterdam, 8am
Pacific, 11am Eastern). I've put together an agenda here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BgXpcfLi_yqz_aO5CCJXsaW1yhGl-LzrcWUmxR83WKQ/edit#
Sarah will be following up with more information about the "Use cases for
reporting" agenda item.
We wanted to include time to discuss the METS reduction work that is being
tackled, but there wasn't a lot of room and I bet it will be a fulsome
discussion. We'd like to suggest an extra meeting dedicated to that topic.
It could be before July 15th or after; please just let us know if that's
something that would interest you.
Regards,
Sara
