Good morning,
If I were a newly focused Oncologic PT, looking at the “Start to Finish” page-
this would be a great place to mention these requirements- before the
specialization process even begins. At the end of the page below, it states:
Congratulations! You’re Certified!
https://specialization.apta.org/become-a-specialist/from-start-to-finish
I do think these requirements could be more clear; what is the correct avenue
for this feedback to ABPTS?
Kudos to all Cohorts on their certifications!
Best,
Megan

Subject: [aptaoncology] Re: Current Oncologic Clinical Specialists Maintenance
of Clinical Specialization (MOSC) [WARNING! - EXTERNAL]
I will say that I recently became board certified in 2021 and I have already
begun to complete the first three year recert period. MOSC is not the best
service nor do I agree with how we have to recert in terms of requirements but
time does move fast so I am trying to stay as proactive as I can with it.

To the Onc Clinical Specialists in the second cohort,
My 2 cents - You may want to get your portfolio started as it is easier to
input information/activities including patient care hours, leadership and
service when they are fresh in your head. In addition, it is helpful to take a
look at the case reflection requirements.
Other clinical specialists whom have begun to complete their online portfolio
and case reflection requirements, please feel free to chime in. Describing how
you are going about the completing the online maintenance portfolio and case
reflection requirements that must be completed every 3 years May be helpful to
other clinical specialists as this is the first time through this process:)
Cheers,
CP

Oncologic Clinical Specialists,
Congratulations on achieving this board certification and joining this select
group of PTs dedicated to exceptional patient care through continued
specialized education and training and furthering the profession through
leadership and knowledge of medical and PT advancements.
You need to to follow the required ongoing process to maintain your clinical
specialist certification. Go to the following link at APTA ABPTS:
https://specialization.apta.org/maintain-certification. Scroll down and you ;
will see a link to "Explore materials, tools, and resources for specialists."
There is a critical deadline approaching for the first cohort of clinical
specialists - your year 3 materials need to be submitted by September 30. 2022
including your case reflection (not case report) to the online portal. You
must meet this deadline to maintain your board certification.
Cheers,
