The requirements are on the ABPTS website at the url I provided in the
previous email related to “Maintenance of clinical specialization (MOSC)”
and not the Academy webpage. I have asked the Academy to put up some basic
info that directs specialists to the ABPTS MOSC page. I am sure they will
get to it.
All specialists have a 10 year certification and all going forward have
requirements at year 3, year 6 and year 9 in that 10 year certification
period. My understanding is that ABPTS notifies the clinical specialists
about these requirements in email communication.
I sent the email out on behalf of the Oncology Specialty Council regarding
the Maintenance of Clinical Specialization (MOSC) as we know how easy it is
for these deadlines to pass and we do not want any of the Clinical
Specialists to not have adequate time to complete those year 3 benchmarks
by the September deadline. If you miss the year 3 benchmarks you do not
lose your 10 year certification; however, you will not be rectified and
would have to take the initial certification exam all over again.
In addition, I am encouraging all clinical specialists to get started
earlier rather than latter in documenting the information that has to be
uploaded in the online portal such as tracking patient care, leadership and
service activities. There are categories of activities that equate to
certain points in the points system per category and it is helpful when
planning to have a sense of the categories and what counts where.

To the Onc Clinical Specialists in the second cohort,
My 2 cents - You may want to get your portfolio started as it is easier to
input information/activities including patient care hours, leadership and
service when they are fresh in your head. In addition, it is helpful to
take a look at the case reflection requirements.
Other clinical specialists whom have begun to complete their online
portfolio and case reflection requirements, please feel free to chime in.
Describing how you are going about the completing the online maintenance
portfolio and case reflection requirements that must be completed every 3
years May be helpful to other clinical specialists as this is the first
time through this process:)

There is a critical deadline approaching for the first cohort of clinical
specialists - *your year 3 materials need to be submitted by September
30. 2022* including your case reflection (not case report) to the online
portal. You must meet this deadline to maintain your board certification.
