If TapirMail uses POP connections, it will use the same port as
AntiSpam, so if AntiSpam crashes without being able to close the port
properly (which shouldn't happen...), that could explain why TapirMail
would fail. NetSurf failing however, makes no sense to me. Unless the
crash also takes down the support program (!NSQ) that checks blocklists,
right in the middle of a check.

Unfortunately, VPRC introduces an extra variable which I am unable to
test. I know RISC OS networking on VRPC is 'hooked' into the Windows
internet stack, but I have no idea how that affects things exactly.

Other than that, how does AntiSpam fail exactly? Do the logs contain
anything useful?

Did you restore the original Settings file?

What changes did you make to the Settings file? Could you send me a copy
of the file (not to the list but to me directly and without login
details of course)?

A copy of your Rules file could also be useful.
