I don't know anything about doing it in Zap (although I do very vaguely
remember having similar problems with it myself when playing around with
text 'editing' of BASIC files in SideDiff), but I would suggest that if
it has problems inserting text into tokenised BASIC files, you try
loading your text into *Edit*, changing the filetype to BASIC (menu
Misc->Set type) and saving back to disc, which will automatically
tokenise the file.   You can do the same from a taskwindow but it's more
trouble:
