Thanks Jep. I agree that the rally is more important than the meeting. I'm not
on slack, can you send me an invite (guess it's about time I learn how to use
it).

Hi All,
If you haven't been invited to join Portland DSA Slack, please let me know
and I'll send you an invite. I think it is now important that we all are on
Slack because we don't want to be left out on general discussion, events, etc.
In case you are not on Slack, below is a message from Cari Luna. This means
that to facilitate DSA's participation, we should NOT hold our next work
group meeting on Sunday, June 4th, despite the best turnout so far. Portland
DSA's June Chapter Meeting is on Sunday, June 11th. Any ideas on when we
should meet? Leadership is one of the agenda items, and I will also report on
potential connection with NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People).
Thanks,
Jep

"Hi all,Last night we took part in a productive planning meeting for Sunday’s
Portland Stands United Against Hate rally. I encourage all of you to join us
at the rally, and to help spread the word about it. Safety was a major topic
of conversation at the meeting, as you might expect. Organizers have met with
Mayor Wheeler and a representative of the police department. This rally is
permitted. The police will form a line on the outside of our rally and
another line on the outside of the right-wing extremist rally. So there will
be two lines of police officers and a lane of traffic between the two groups.
Our rally is expressly intended to be non-violent. The intention is to show
Portland’s opposition to racism and bigotry through our numbers. A big
turnout is key.Two other rallies are also being planned that intend to be
more confrontational. There will be an antifa rally closer to the right-wing
rally, as well as another group who intends to rally in the same space as the
right-wing extremists and hold the plaza to try to keep the far-right out.
Portland DSA will be meeting at the rally to stand together with our banner.
Stay tuned for the location. In the meantime, please help spread the word
about the rally. The far right is trying to stake a claim in Portland. We
want a huge turnout to dwarf theirs."
