My interactive hike is about inclusiveness, promoting the traditions and
history of scouting to the community. I’ve included background on both Girl
Scouts and Boy Scouts, including a chance to see a Scout Day parade from 1963!
It’s also a way for families to get out there and do an activity in a safe and
socially responsible way.
The flyer is posted at the Youth House in Garfield Park. If a viewer uses the
QR code, they are taken to a page which provides history around the Youth House
(Check it out!), and a map to the next destination. When they get there,
they’ll need to find a tag with a QR code that will send them to a page about
that location’s history, and so on. The full, roundtrip urban hike is 2.5
miles, with 10 points of interest in all.

I also worked with our local city historian, our public library for their
historical photo collection, and in some cases with individuals who were
personally involved with a location.
I’ve attached the flyer, a picture of the tags, and how I have them posted. I
had so much fun putting this together, I wanted to share with all my Antelope
friends!
