I’d like to encourage you all to consider attending this meal. It’s isn’t easy
for our Muslim neighbors to reach out like this and we owe it to them to honor
their offer of friendship. I hope to see lots of you there on Monday. Janice
and I have been at a few such events in Missouri and here in Austin. It’s a
great opportunity to build bridges.

Jun 11, MON, 7pm - Ramadan Iftar meal at Austin Mennonite Church. This is an
opportunity to meet our Muslim neighbors and learn about Islam and Ramadan.

you would plan to attend. So far, six people from AMC have indicated they would
be attending and twenty people from the Muslim community will be attending. We
could use a more people from AMC. Everyone will come together at 7pm to meet
and chat. At 7:30 AMCers will share with the Muslim community about Austin
Mennonite Church. Then the Muslim community with share us about Ramadan. We
will set food out about 8:15pm and then enjoy the Iftar meal about 8:30pm.
There will be a couple of rooms made available to our Muslim friends as places
for them to pray. We will finish about 9 or 9:15pm. The following article might

Sharing of Joys and Concerns from Sunday, June 3, 2018
· Pat - thankful for help from Nathan when she and Steve had a breakdown with
their two-seater, recumbent tricycle.
· Bob Koehn - pray for his friend Kyle's young daughter, Briar, being seen by
specialists in Denver.
· Gloria - enjoyed the book reading by author Jen Graber "The Gods of Indian

and glad that Donna could attend the reading. Donna is not feeling well today.
· Dama - pray for Marby who is experiencing pain.
· Hannah - pray for my sister in Michigan who is expecting soon. I will going
there to help out when the time comes.
· Bob Knipe - pray for families transitioning to summer mode.
· Pray for incarcerated prisoners who do not have air conditioning.
· Dixie - pray for people living on the street during the summer heat.

answers Job. In difficult times, Job turned to God with questions. God answered
Job in a whirlwind. After hearing many examples from nature, Job affirmed that
God can do all things. Student learn to marvel at the majesty of God in
creation.
· Adults are using the Adult Bible Study summer quarter (Justice in the New
Testament) with the June 10 lesson entitled “Parables of God’s Just

There will be a performance at Houston Mennonite Church on Friday, August 10
and a performance at Austin Mennonite Church on Saturday. The purpose is help
us laugh, think, highlight the good work of Mennonite Disaster Service and
raise funds for MDS with a couple of auction "interruptions" during the
performance.
