Thank YOU Edna! I'm in Kingwood. I also have the Design Shop Pro Plus (of course, I don't know how to use it!). I retired from Abbott Laboratories and called on many nurses during my 24 years with the company. Are you going to practice nursing when you finish your clinicals in addition to the embroidery business? I've not been to training yet, am waiting until I finish my nursing clinicals then I'll be free to go. But I have been doing embroidery just over 10 years so if I can help with anything, you can email or call me. I'm going to a training seminar this week sponsored by Melco so I hope to get a lot of my questions answered while I'm there...this userlist has been wonderful...I've already learned more from reading everyone's postings than I did in the last month reading and experimenting on my own. Quite frankly I was ready to sell everything and take the loss. Now I've made up my mind to learn how to run the darn things. I'm retired and have the machines set up in a room over my garage...it's centrally air conditioned and heated, has a bathroom, TV, etc...ideal really for the embroidery business. Both machines are really low time...I just did the 200,000 stitch maintenance on one today...and the other machine hit that benchmark a couple of weeks ago. So, as you can see, we've not done much in two years. Anyway, thanks for your note! I've saved your e-mail...beware of phones ringing late at night:) Debby Hahn Coyote Design, Inc. 832-563-1579 -----Original Message----- From: amayausers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:amayausers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Itchin To Stitch Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2005 6:04 PM To: amayausers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [amayausers] Re: thead breaks Debby, Where are you located. 'Hahn' is not a very common name but we have tons in our area. If you are in MN we can talk via phone if you'd like. My name is Debby and I own a home based embroidery business. I own TWO Amaya machines bought in July 2003. This is my first "posting " to this web site and I have been reading every posting trying to learn as much as I can about the Amaya's. Although I own the equipment I have only recently started trying to learn the embroidery side of the business. My partners were responsible for doing the actual embroidery in the past and are no longer involved in the business (sigh)...so it' pretty much a "one woman" show at the moment. I am trying to decide whether to sell the machines or to "learn the trade" myself. I am absolutely OVERWHELMED by what I have to learn in order to continue this business. So, if anyone is interested in acquiring my equipment I would definitely consider the offer. I am scheduled to attend a training session this week. In the meantime... I would like to know how I can tell if I have the newer hook assembly that has been mentioned in this e-mail. Secondly, I struggle with thread breaks on PIQUET shirts (60/40 blend). I can sew out the same logo on denim or backing or twill without a problem but as soon as I try to put a simple two line text logo on this particular shirt I have MULTIPLE thread breaks despite adjusting tension, needle depth, changing needles, changing thread, etc. I have not tried using Solvy on piquet...I'm going to try that next to see if that helps. Any suggestions on why I would have numerous thread breaks on a piquet 60/50 blend shirt but not on another material would be most appreciated. I have already learned a great deal from your postings. Thank you. Perhaps one day I will be able to give back to the group. It's amazing how much smoother it stitches now. Wish I had known to do it a long time ago. Lou
