What you do is sew the whole design on the lawn chair panel, but have
a 'pause' and then an outline of the
whole design area, or just a rectangle-and set for a matching thread
color to the material.
So when the main design is finished, pause, then slide your blank
panel of material underneath your
backing, use some tape if needed to hold it underneath there...then
sew the rectangle outline to tie it down.
Now you have hidden all your bobbin thread, backing, etc. behind this
panel.
If you are using the speed frame it would be so easy to just flip the
panel over, recenter with the laser, then
place your panel on top like an applicque and sew it down....but you
would want your bobbin thread now
to match the panel color since the bobbin thread would actually be on
the face of the panel.
Make sense now?
It's probably something a seamstress could do on a regular sewing
machine in 30 seconds if you have
a regular machine handy...just pin the panel to the back, have the
right color thread and sew it down.

The 'logo'd' directors chairs I've seen (and can get through Ad
specialty catalogs) don't bother cover the
back of the panel-the backing material is the same color as the panel
so when it is torn or cut off, it isn't
a 'white' backing showing.
Just renamed a satin type vest, all black, no buttons, and the
original name on it had been backed with
black pellon-and the bobbin was black thread...you could hardly see
the backing and bobbin thread
that way.
So if you could wind your own bobbins, for the lawn chairs use the
matching thread color for your
bobbins and use a backing that is clear or the same color (if you
need backing-some canvas stuff i do,
even tote bags-I don't bother with backing) and then you really won't
have much showing from the
back!
