Its called combine or subtract elements. It only works with certain types of
stitches. Make a square using fill stitches or complex column. Then make
another overlapping a corner of the first one. Then select both elements in
the design tree. You will see a red and blue dot with a + or - go from grayed
out to where you can select them. You can click the subtract element one and
the area in the first square where the 2nd overlaps it will take out the
stitches. You have to play with it to see whan and where it will allow you to
use this function.
