Roland and Hugo, sorry to hear of your travails.
My hubby and I recent read Frank Abagnale's book, "Stealing Your Life," about identity theft. I know that isn't your problem, but one of the safeguards he lists is to NOT pay anything with a debit card, just because it is a direct link to your money. Very good book, which made us feel good because we are already being pretty darn careful with our personal info.
Have a great day!Barb in Broomfield, CO

Subject: [amayausers.com] Re: bank account scam-watch outRoland,Your not the only one,,,,, only we were finally able to stop the bleeding. In our case my wife ordered what she thought were free samples, but didn't read the "fine print" which stated that if you are not satisfied with the product,to return it in 2 or 3 weeks. We went a couple of rounds over it. How can anything be FREE if they ask for payment info!!!!!!!Hugo Torbidoni

Subject: [amayausers.com] bank account scam-watch out
Hi everyone...just thought I'd let you know about a scamwe are in the middle of fighting...shortly after I came home from surgery back in March...Iwasn't completely 'coherent' and impulsively signed up'on line' for the weight loss/acaii berry system. When itcame in my wife immediately called in and canceled itas the ads said you could.Well..........we got screwed. The company 'selling' the productscontinually bills our bank account-and even the bank officertried to talk to them on the phone-and was blown off! It's been 8 months now and the charges are still coming on ourmonthly statement-BECAUSE the scam company has a wayto get AROUND a block on the credit card-and have it auto-deducted straight from the account! Last month we told the bankto STOP it and get the state Attorney General's office in-this isWIRE FRAUD...and suddenly the monthly charge is coming froma new company in the UK!So Sue is up there at the bank closing down the account-ourBUSINESS account...and if the bank can't prevent the spammerfrom hacking into the NEW account-we have to change banks.So...if any of you fell for the 'weight loss berry' scam-check yourbank accounts, because I had put it on a credit/debit card-and thecompany knows how to get directly into YOUR bank account! My medications are working now so I won't do this again...butboy, am I in trouble with 'the boss' over this mess!=
