I inquired about those screw holes in the larger hoops some time back and all I 
was able to find out was that they were put there for a design that never took 
place.  I'm thinking maybe to invert the hoop 90 degrees possibly???
As for the bobbin case removal on the XT, yes, it's definitely more difficult 
to remove with larger fingers than the original Amaya and this is due to the 
shape of the cylindrical shaped needle plate.  I've always told customers of 
mine that if I owned an XT, I would take the needle plate to the grinding wheel 
to take a little off that front edge to make it easier to insert my finger for 
removal of the bobbin case.  I guess you have to use more of the tip of your 
finger or even your finger nail.
